Aphonopelma sp. "Diamondback" is an undescribed locality form of North American tarantula with distinctive patterning that earned it the "Diamondback" trade name. Like all Aphonopelma, it is calm, hardy, and extremely long-lived. These tarantulas are opportunistic burrowers in the wild, creating shallow scrapes under rocks and debris. In captivity, they thrive in simple dry setups and make excellent low-maintenance display animals. Pure bloodline specimens are valued for maintaining locality-specific characteristics.
