Augacephalus is a genus of harpacterinetheraphosidspiders. It has three species, all of which are found in Africa. The type species ofAugacephalusisA. breyeriwhich was described asPterinochilusbreyeriby Hewitt in 1919. In 2002, Gallon placed it a new genus, which he erected in the same paper,Augacephalus. Its name comes from theGreekαυγήaugameaning "sun rays" and κεφᾰλήkephalemeaning "head" which refers to the prominent, radialcephalothoraxstriaepresent in most species.
